MISSY TEMEKE
Missy Temeke is one of the Prominent African fashion designers, recognized for her artistic and technical skills and for creating simple, comfortable women’s wear.
Born and raised in the Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania, Missy Temeke'spassion for fashion began in her teens when she worked as a Model, beauty pageant and beautician for the clouds company while attending school.
Missy Temeke began her professional career by studying fashion design at The John Casablanca Modeling and Fashion Institute. Upon graduating Missy Temeke had the opportunity to work in modeling and various beauty contests including Miss Tanzaniaand Miss Africa.
Missy Temeke ‘s fashion designing career propelled when she was embedded with two of the industry’s most influential designers, Euphrasia and Hassan hassnari. The invaluable experience gained from working within these two design houses inspired Missy Temeke to fulfill her lifelong dream and launch her eponymous line, KWETU FASHION DESIGN in 2009.
She founded this clothing line (KWETU FASHION design) withobjective of presenting her love of high fashion, nuances of African heritage, and a distinct and unconventional design aesthetic in an exciting and innovative way, to a global audience.
She immediately approached this new venture with the same energy and entrepreneurial savvy for which she is known; establishing the overall business structure while taking the lead as the creative force behind the label.
When Missy Temeke is designing, she is inspired by real women and loves to incorporate African and rich pops of color into her collections each season. Her technical knowledge of a garment’s proper fit and design, combined with her innate creative abilities, results in an effortless and wearable line that reflect the kind of woman she is herself; strong, sexy, fun, and fearless.
Missy Temeke ’s designs are worn by Dignitaries such as Former Tanzania ambassador to USA Mwanaidi Maajar, Botswana and Zimbabwe Ambassadors to U.S.A and many Tanzanians ,east Africans and Africans overall.
